2nd XI Player of the Year - 2005

Personal

After coming through the clubs legendary youth system, Ian has firmly cemented himself in the last two seasons as one of the clubs most reliable opening batsmen. In fact it is probably no exaggeration to say that he's scored more runs in the last two seasons than in previous years combined.

After taking up the unwanted position of opening batsmen in the clubs' 2nd XI several seasons ago, Ian sought the advice of club legend/batting guru (and his father) John. Add to this spending the equivalent of a month's salary on a new bat and the transformation was complete. Now known as one of the toughest players to bowl out in the club, Keeny has both impeccable forward and backward defensives, thus giving him the opportunity to bat out 50 overs more often than most players could dream of.

The 2005 season saw him named 2nd XI player of the year after scoring 400+ runs and his form continued into 2006 as he was given the opportunity to open for the 1st XI.

Of the field Keeny has a passion for cars, a fact clearly demonstrated by his pride and joy, his Ford Focus, a car with a bigger exhaust than most people's heads. If only his run rate was as fast as his car!
